Sunday, 10/4 we rode our bikes from ABTB to UofDelaware for Coast days.. that was 12 miles. I was doggone tired Sunday night. Slept really well!
Went for a run/walk on Tuesday evening.
Details:
Walked to start of Hammond. Then one set of 40/40, then the rest were 60/60 until entering the hood. Time from driveway to enter the hood was 29 min... 2 miles... that would be 14:30 min/mile.
Today is Thursday... went for a bike ride
Details:
Went down hill, onto Redwell, then onto Lawry, down the main road to Redwell, and back home.... up the big hill. The big hill kicked my butt and I had to walk my bike up a part of it. But hey, I was out moving.... that is good enough for me. Time to complete from driveway and back to driveway was 56 minutes. And I think that is about 7 miles. Starting small. Many breaks.
Thoughts:
I find the first ride or run on a new route is just testing the waters, it makes me nervous because I don't really know how to prepare for the next part... how and where should I push myself. What part is going to be hard, where can I break/rest easily... those are my concerns, but I guess as I get out there and do more, I will get to know more areas.

Adventure Run
Last night at 7pm I meet Jeff and Nick at the local park as Em had Girl Scouts and would be done at 8pm.
As we were running around the trail for the second time, at the spot near the stream, Jeff puts out his hand, and says "skunk!"
I almost started to scream, but decided that would not be a good idea as my hands were already flapping in the wind, but by that time we were about 10 feet away from him! And he had his tail in the air.
We all did a huge detour around him and gave the little skunk his room. He then scurried down the stream bank, and we scurried back to the trail with a detour across the soccer field to the car.
What an adventure!

Sunday's workout:
Sunday's workout:
Here is my recent report of my running activity:two weeks ago I ran "the Loop" (2.4 miles) in 35:36
Yesterday "the Loop" was completed in 34:20
Over a minute was shaved off of my time!
I was SO excited. And that was done with a 40 sec split of run/walking. And I haven't really done all of my workouts as life is crazy with three kids needing to be taken places.
So it is good to see improvement.
I am hoping to do a 5K over Thanksgiving and 10K at Christmas time. But I need to continue the training

Another week gone by
Went to the beach this weekend for a weekend of scrapbooking. Not a lot of sleep :-)
Friday evening I ran from Bridgeway to Elmwood, and back... in about 28 min.
Sunday we came home for Jenna's cheerleading game. Took a quick nap.
then off to do the Hammond Loop. Pace was 16 min/mile... not too good. But I am trying, I just need to keep it serious and MAKE the time. UGH, that's the problem, too many committments with the kiddos and their activities. But I will continue to make this a priority.

I haven't been feeling the best this week, just a general blah.... and nagging headache.
I ran this morning for about 25-27 minutes, twice around the neighborhood.
(2*0.85miles = 1.7 miles ~ 15:53 min per mile ~ Ugh, not the best pace in the world)
I think I need to eat better, more protein, less carbs

OK, Friday morning was to be my timed min/mile pace for the Loop (2.4 miles)
But it was raining, and not just a tiny drizzle, but a downpouring of cold wet rain.
Running outside was Not one of the options.
So I skipped Friday morning's run. Then we went to the USMMA/NYC for the weekend.
Once home on Sunday afternoon, I went out. I hadn't done any excerise since Wed (4 days prior!)
My first mile was 14:30 (under the required 16:00 for the Princess Half)
then for the total 2.4 miles, my average of 14:50! I was SO happy. My time was 35:36-ish
For the record I did 30:30 for the first mile, then 60:60 for the rest (1.4miles)
I know I am taking baby steps, but I want to document all of my efforts, so I can visually see my improvements.

Update, Update - New Goal.
OK, I am now getting serious about this working out stuff. and dumped the ball. And bought myself a new bike in May.
I have been doing a modified run to get into shape with the ulimate goal of doing a half marathon next spirng. I started on August 25th, 2009.
I started out with running just 15 seconds, then walking 45 seconds for 14 times (14 minutes).
I have worked up over the past 2 weeks to 24 mintues of 30seconds running/30 seconds of walking.
Tomorrow will be the Hammond Loop for a minute per mile pace to see where I am. Hammond Loop is 2.4 miles, so if I do a 16 minute per mile pace, that should take me 38:24.
While at the beach on Aug 29th I did approx a 17 min mile, and that was flat without any hills.
I need to stretch more after my excerise.
